R Madhavan's Son Vedaant Wins His First Medal For India & We're Proud Of Him Just Like His Dad

Representing your nation in a major internationalsporting event sure brings a lot of pride for an athlete but more so for the athlete's parents.

Now, imagine the joy on Bollywood actor R Madhavan's face when he shared the image of his son, Vedaant standing tall with an Asian Age Group Swimming Championship silver medal around his neck, posing for the media to take images.

On Thursday, the 49-year-old actor shared an image of Vedaant standing on stage, next to his teammates after coming second in the 4x100m freestyle relay for group II boys.

“India gets her Silver medal at the Asian Games. Gods grace .. Vedaants first official medal representing India,” wrote the proud father.

Failing to meet Japan's team record of 3:34.60 seconds, the Indian contingent with the record of 3:41:49 finished less than a second ahead of Chinese Taipei who clocked 3:42:29 to bag the silver medal.

His teammates Utkarsh Patil, Sahil Laskar and Shoan Ganguly clocked 57.10s, 54.83s and 54.29s respectively while Vedaant Madhavan reached his mark in 55.27s.

India had started out their campaign at the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships with a gold in the 4x100m men's freestyle relay on Tuesday, with Srihari Nataraj giving a flying start to his quartet while playing a huge role in providing India with the top podium finish.

"It was important that the team got off to a good start and I was entrusted by the team and the coaches with that responsibility. Being the second-fastest in the team, I couldn't let my team down,” Srihari said after the win. “It was a great effort from all of us and it feels good to win India's first gold at the Championships.”
